A Hawk Walk Engagement Shoot at Mount Falcon Estate
An engagement shoot is a brilliant opportunity to get to know a bride and groom before their big day. It makes for a more relaxed wedding day when we’ve already worked together – everything happens quicker, leaving the happy couple plenty of time to celebrate with their guests.
Mount Falcon Estate – a venue that celebrates love
In the case of a gorgeous wedding venue like Mount Falcon in Ballina, Co. Mayo, it also means we can explore more of the grounds and use some locations we just won’t have time to include on the day. The estate is quite large, so it’s nice to do it justice and go further than we will on your wedding day. There are lots of woodland avenues, ancient trees and lakeshore locations that make amazing backdrops for romantic couples photography. Apparently, the building of Mount Falcon was a labour of love by a man for his new bride, so it’s a very fitting location to celebrate your love.
Cathal and Danielle, along with their young daughter opted for a hawk walk for their engagement shoot. Martin, the Resident Falconer at Mount Falcon Estate, introduced the majestic birds, who provided an absolutely stunning display. They really are magnificent creatures!
After the falconry, we wandered further through the romantic woodlands. Mount Falcon is a fantastic venue in springtime. The woodland grounds, carpeted with daffodils, wild garlic, primroses and so much more is just perfect. It’s even better to have a flower girl in waiting who is only too happy to sit amongst the flowers!
Why have an engagement shoot before your wedding?
Not every couple opt for an engagement shoot, but I definitely recommend it. It gives fabulous images to use in your wedding announcement or Save the Date. Most importantly, it helps to take the pressure off the big day if you’re a little uncomfortable in front of the camera.
